Grammie and Pop pop came to visit

Tim's parents (Grammie and Pop pop) came to visit Ellie and Cole today! Grammie played outside with Ellie - Ellie would not leave her alone until she took her outside! Below are some pics of the visit!

Cole's first week

It is hard to believe the first week has come and gone...time really does go fast when you are having fun. Cole has been great! I am not sure if he is a really good baby, sleeper, eater, or if I am just more confident in myself as a mom and just know what to do. We are having so much fun with Ellie and Cole. Cole only wakes up about every 3-3.5 hours at night - which is really nice.

Ellie has been really good to Cole - she kisses and tried to give him his passy (all the time!) Today I was asking her if she was a big sister and she replied (in her words and then I will put it in English) "No mommy, I not big sissa day - I a gurl" What she was saying was "No mommy, I am not a sister today - I am a girl" I said ok - you can be a girl today. It was so funny!

Cole went to the doctor for his first check up on Friday and he weighted 9 lbs 2 oz and looked great. So...everything is going good now...I will keep everyone updated!

First few days

Well...we got home and tried to get settled in and then I got a call Wednesday morning saying my mom's dad (Grampa) had passed away. He had been in a nursing home since he broke his hip back in April and he just never could recover. So, today is really the "first day home" since I spent the day yesterday in Athens. So far things are going well. Cole slept like a champ last night. He went to bed at 12:30 am woke up at 4:00 am to eat and then at 7:30 am. So, I got a combined 7 hours of sleep!!! I really needed it! Ellie is doing well with Cole - this morning she woke up asking for him...so I think that is a good sign that he might be growing on her ;).

Here are some updated pics of my kids - yikes - that makes me sound old - "The kids" - haha.

Pops finally got to meet Cole!

Yes...he is here!

All I can say is thank goodness! I feel like a whole new person! I felt better 15 minutes after he was born! Sunday night I had started to think (again) I was in labor. Nothing big...just more contractions. I did not want to get everyones hopes up so I just went to bed. Well...about 3:30 am I woke up and there was NO doubt I was in labor. I layed here for an hour and then I woke Tim up and we timed contractions for about an hour then I got in the shower. I waited until about 6 am to call the doctor. I called mom and KT to get the process started. The doctor told me to go to the hospital pretty quickly. We got to the hospital about 7:30 am and when I got there I was 4-5 cm dilated. At 11:50 am my water still had not broken so the midwife broke my water and Cole was born 25 mintues later at 12:15 pm. It was so nice to have it go so fast since Ellie took FOREVER to come out! Even better...we are home now! They came in and said everything looked good and we could go home - so we came in to the hospital at 7:30 am on Monday and got home at 5 pm on Tuesday...good deal!

Cole is a big boy weighing in at 8 lbs 12.5 oz. He is 21 inches long and has a 14 inch head. He is doing really well...we will see how he sleeps tonight :)

Ellie's words to Cole...

Ellie wanted to let her little brother know she wants him to come out and see her!!

Below are pics from dinner tonight for Jill's birthday.

These are Ellie's friends she met on the lawn out at dinner...they were carrying her up the hill - I guess they thought she cannot walk!

False alarm...

I did what I was always worried I would do...I had a false alarm. I was down at my friend April's house last night and I was feeling contractions - still not painful - but I just felt funny - I lost all train of thought and was dizzy. I did not feel like myself. So, I called my midwife and she wanted to see me. So...off we went to the hospital at 11:00 last night. I was hooked up to the monitors and I was having contractions about 5-7 minutes apart - but they just were not painful and not changing things down under. My blood pressure was 138/84...which is high for me since I usually stay about 90/55. They watched me for a few hours and when nothing changed - they asked me if I wanted to stay and be watched more or go home - and at that point it was 1:30 am and I wanted my bed! So...we left. I am still having the contractions - maybe a little more painful - but nothing to run back to the hospital for. So...that is the update - basically still waiting.

Ellie going under the water

Well...she did it! She went totally under the water. The best part is - she did not cry! Ellie's teacher came over and instructed Nana on the best way to just basically dunk her - and Nana did it...Ellie looked a little shocked...but she did not cry. She went under more and then started to jump off the side to Nana. Nana would let her go under a little when she jumped. Jill is on swim lesson duty tomorrow - so we will hopefully be able to jump in and go all the way under from a jump. I am going to try to video some of the lesson tomorrow and see if I can get it on here.

Nothing new on the baby front...still waiting...

Swim lessons

Ok...today at swim lessons I took my camera and took some pics of Ellie and Nana. Tomorrow Ellie will go under water - I hope she does not freak out! Most of the time she is more interested in the toys in the pool than actually swimming!

This is Ellie's face most of the time in the pool - we keep telling her not to open her mouth - but she keeps it open and drinks the water - GROSS! No wonder she was sick!

37 week appt.

I just got back from the doctor today - I am 37 weeks. Last week I was 1 cm dilated and 50% thinned (effaced). This week I am 2 cm dilated and 75% dilated. So...we are still moving in the right direction. The midwife said it should not be too much longer - people keep saying that and I hope I have not gotten jinxed.

I lost 3 pounds at my appt today - last week I must have been retaining lots of water or something - weird! But I have been totally cleared of preeclampsia.

The midwife also said Cole will be bigger than Ellie - Ellie was 8.1 when she was born - so lets hope for under 9 (Please!) At my next appt (a week from today) the midwife will strip my membranes and they said if it works - it usually works with in 2 days. So...hopefully by the end of next week - I will be posting new pics of little Cole!!

My head cold is pretty much gone - I feel SO much better! I have gotten a little "boost" of energy - probably knowing the end is near!

Nana and Jill have been taking Ellie to swim lessons the past week and this is her last week. Today the kids put on little life vests and had to float on their backs. When Nana let Ellie go (after Ellie cried when she had to put the vest on) Nana would show Ellie that she was not holding on to Ellie and Ellie would start cracking up. It was cute. Wednesday is the day - they are being dunked!!!!!! We will see how it goes! I will try to get some pics of swim lessons - they are on my moms camera.

Good news...

I went back to the doctor today b/c my headache was not going away. My first round of blood work came back good - does not look like preeclampsia right not. They still have to test my 24 hour urine test (thank you to mom for letting me store my jug-o-pee on her counter - haha!) Yes...Jill clorox-wiped it ;). The doctor seems to think just my juicy-ness (fluid retention), heat, stress, and hormones are causing the headaches. I had a little fever - so I am hoping I am not getting strep throat from Ellie...that would just be the icing on the cake! He gave me some medicine to knock them out. So...the wait is still on...

Tonight, I am going to take some Tylenol PM Cold and sleep...Katie, Jill, and mom made me (and when I say made me...I really mean it...I am already having seperation anxiety from El - my favorite part of the day is bath time and her play time before bed - she is always in such a good mood!) leave Ellie at mom's to spend the night so I could sleep in a little. We will see how much I sleep. Something every night has woken me up between 3-4 am...whether it is acid relux, head aches, Ellie's bad dreams about her passys, or restless legs...I think I am deserving of all of this b/c Ellie's pregnancy was so easy. But, it really is worth it in the end - I just wish the end would come soon!!!

36 weeks...

Well...I am now 36 weeks pregnant...only 4 more until my due date. I will be induced at 39 weeks if I have not gone naturally before then...so really only 3 weeks at the most :) I went to the doctor today and I had gained 10 pounds in 2 weeks...yeah...that is not a typo...10 pounds...2 weeks. The doctor asked me if I was having headaches and I told her I have had them all week. My blood pressure was up as well. So...the doctor seems think I may have preeclampsia...but I am hoping not. I am doing some tests over the next few days to see what is going on. I am hoping everything is ok (even though preeclampsia diagnosis would make me feel better about gaining 10 pounds in 2 weeks.) When I saw my weight - I almost fell off the scale.

Ellie also woke up from her nap on Saturday with a 102.2 temp...so we got to head to after hours care. She ends up having strep throat - poor baby. She did not have a fever at all today - so she seems to be getting better.

Little Luker is doing just great. Katie has him on soy formula now - and he is a much happier baby. We have confirmed no Elliott child/grandchild needs to be on any other formula besides soy. We have sensitive tummies!

I will update this once I know more...and I have put some updated pics of Ellie.
