Ellie's new quote, potty training, and tummy time

I have lots to write about today...we had an eventful 2 days!
First, last night April was over at the house and we were sitting in the living room and Ellie's monitor was on. We heard her up in bed just talking so we just kind of ignored her and kept on talking. Then, April got up to go to the fridge and all of the sudden loud and clear as day we hear "OH --MY -- GOD". We just started laughing so hard b/c you would have thought a 25 year old was saying it. I was telling April I did not know where she heard that and right after I was telling April that I did not know where she got it the phrase came out of my mouth...so...Julie (mommy) needs to clean up her mouth...we will be working on that!

Second, this morning, I was doing the norm...cleaning bottles, cleaning the house, and other household chores and I look up and Ellie has her baby sitting on the babies potty on the lounge chair. I guess Ellie thinks her baby needs to be potty trained now. See the pics of Ellie efforts in potty training her baby.

Lastly, please see the pics below of my three kids having tummy time (including baby Katie). We got out very own tummy time mat and Cole and Luke are both doing very well holding their head up! Hopefully Katie will learn to hold her head up soon ;). Katie came to stay with the kids while I went to the doctor today...thanks Aunt KT!

I also went to my midwife today for my 6 week appt. I have been cleared to work out (not that I have waited to hear those words...but know I just am not worried about it.) I see the surgeon on Friday about my hernia - it does not hurt and it is not bulging anymore so hopefully he will say I do not have to have it repaired - keep your fingers crossed!

Ode to Cole

Since Cole was born I have been wanting to write about him - but there is only so much you can write about crying, pooping, and eating. But...Cole has now decided to come out of his "newborn" phase and start acting like a real human so there are fun things to write about!

If you don't know - Cole LOVES his tummy. He sleeps like champ on his belly and loves to play too! I took some pics of him playing on Luke's play mat. He is really getting good at holding his head up.

Cole also starting smiling a little bit this week - I will try to get a video or pic of it soon!

Cole had his 1 month check up this week. He is doing really well...he has a little reflux so they gave him some medicine so he should be feeling better and not barfing as much. He weighed in at 11 lbs 13 oz and is 23 inches long. He is in the 95th percentile for his weight and height and only the 60th for his head.

The really good news is that last night Cole ate his bottle at 10:30 and we went to bed at midnight so I gave him about another oz or so and he slept until 5 am!! He slept for 5 hours! It was nice - hopefully he is on his way to sleeping through the night! (keep your fingers crossed!)

Learning lessons VERY quickly!

Ok, I have had the WORST day!! I have not had such a bad day in a while so I guess I had it coming!

First...I will NEVER...EVER...and I mean EVER...take both of my kiddos to the grocery store again. Between Ellie YELLING for a freakin Thomas balloon and Cole screaming...(well I don't know what the heck he was screaming about...I mean he cannot even see past his arms...there is no way he wanted the Thomas balloon too)...I could NOT grocery shop the way I wanted. Who knows what I even got b/c I was going through the store throwing things in the cart. So...after leaving the store (hot and flustered b/c I was "that mom with the screaming kids") I went to the car and started looking for my keys...I COULD NOT FIND THEM! Remind you...Cole was STILL screaming - oh and it was seriously like 537 degrees outside - or maybe I was just hot from being in a dead sweat in the store. I was looking in the car - thinking I may have locked them in the car...but FINALLY I found them! So, I literally throw my groceries in the car b/c I was just so mad at this point and take off home.

After arriving home I sweat even more carrying in the groceries and get the mail...and what is in there...a letter from Nissan (I swear I get them every month) - it says again for the third month in a row - they had not received my car payment. Once again - for the third month in a row - I look up my cancelled check online and get on the phone with East India not trying to understand what the heck they are saying I let them know I received another letter saying I did not pay my car payment but they had cashed my check - so not sure what was going on. They looked it up and they AGAIN credited my check to another account. I finally (nicely, but firmly) said I was not dealing with this every month and they need to get the "act" together. She said she changed something in the system so it won't happen again - but I am not holding my breath!

So, needless to say I got NOTHING done today. I had all these plans of cleaning the house, unpacking from the beach, and getting everything organized - but that did not happen.

Here is the moral of the story - Wait for your husband to get home to go to the grocery store - I know I will!!!

PS - Cole is STILL crying as I am typing this! :) - I am trying to stay positive!

Beach

We have had a great time at the beach this year - this was Ellie's first year to actually enjoy the beach. She went to the pool and learned to swim with her life vest on, she built sand castles with aunt KT, and played in her flatable pool on the beach. Here is a video of her swimming with her vest on...she did great!

The boys (Tim, Dan, and Joe) had the great idea to dig a huge hole - it ended up being about 7 ft deep...it was really hard work...Tim was very sore the next day...here are the boys and their hole!

We always were able to get some great family pics while we were down at the beach...here are some of them...

Lastly, here is a video of Ellie giving a shout out to Grammie...enjoy Grammie!!

Opps...Ellie is a girl

I just realized in the post below I called Ellie a "him" - my bad - she is a "her"

Jesus is funny!

Yesterday I packed Ellie and Cole up and we headed to Athens to visit with Gramma for the day. Before we left for Gramma's I was trying to explain to Ellie (again) what happened to Grampa. I simply told him he went to live with Jesus. Later she asked (again) if we were going to see Grampa...I said Ellie where is Grampa - she replied "living with Jesus" and she started laughing and said "Jesus...he's funny" I could not help but laugh. I guess El and Jesus go way back or something - haha!

Once we got to Gramma's of course she asked again - where's "paw-paw" (her version of grampa). I said where is grampa Ellie...and she replied "Living with Jesus" I think it made Gramma smile - which was nice!

4th of July weekend

We had so much fun this weekend...Ellie got to see fireworks for the first time and play with lots of family! Friday, we had a crew over to mom's. It was the 8 us, Gramma, Mother Kay, Granddaddy, Uncle Jim, Aunt Phyllis, Suzanna, Mike, Caroline, Linda, Brenda, and Aunt Annie. We had a packed house! We grilled out and watched the fireworks in my parents neighborhood. Ellie was not too keen on the noise of fireworks - but she really liked to watch them. We also took Ellie to the pool before the cookout on Friday - she had a blast as always!

Saturday we went to one of Ellie's friends 2nd birthday party. We had lots of fun catching up with neighbors and Ellie had fun playing.

Cole is still doing great...he is still sleeping a lot - but starting to be awake for longer periods of time. Today is his 2 week birthday - 2 weeks goes by a lot faster when you are not pregnant! Having two kids has kept me really busy - but we are having lots of fun! Sunday we had Jill's first wedding shower at her friend Lindseys house. It was a nice shower and Jill got lots of good kitchen things!

Ellie's position during the fireworks - so cute!

Ellie with her cell phone in her pocket - Jill gave Ellie her old cell phone to play with!
